Website Design
Content Strategy

We helped Momentum Bike Club’s website show their commitment to youth development and longitudinal mentorship while also engaging their supporters.

I serve for a nonprofit organization and we were in the market for a web designer that could completely rebuild our site and offer post-support services. Engenius underpromised and OVER delivered.

If you look at their portfolio, it speaks for itself. They do amazing work and are exceptional at designing websites. What I want to elaborate on are the people. We as an organization could not have asked for a more thoughtful, consistent, caring, and engaging staff of individuals to trust with our online presence. You get that when you partner with Engenius, you work with amazing individuals who care.

There are a plethora of companies that are gifted at what they do. Know that Engenius effortlessly goes above and beyond those gifts by underpromising and over-delivering.

Background

Momentum Bike Clubs is a nonprofit organization that mentors under-resourced middle and high school students through bicycle clubs in Pickens and Greenville County schools. Mentorship is at the heart of Momentum’s mission, and its model of longitudinal mentorship encourages students to build years-long relationships with trusted adults that work in their schools.

While Momentum’s community engagement efforts were wide, their website was not. Created in 2014 to get the nonprofit online, the site was a billboard and little else. It did not show the scope of Momentum’s impact in the community and it didn’t tell a clear story to donors and volunteers about how they could get involved and support the organization. In short, Momentum needed a new site that appealed to donors and helped diversify their nonprofit funding while also showcasing the nonprofit’s maturity, commitment to mentorship, and heart for students.

Objectives

  • Establish an online presence that tells the Momentum Bike Club story and facilitates community engagement.
  • Create a website featuring a modern, fun, and clean design that portrays Momentum Bike Clubs’ commitment to youth development and longitudinal mentorship.
  • Guide visitors to donate and engage with the organization.
  • Be easy to update and maintain by the nonprofit moving forward

Solution

  • Momentum Bike Clubs’ mission is to connect with and mentor youth. Their colors, activities, and overall brand vibe is fun, energetic, and bold. We capitalized on this by using color throughout the site — including Momentum’s eye-catching green. Pictures of various Momentum Bike Club events featuring many of their youth participants help round out the design colors, buttons, and aesthetics showing the user visually who this organization is for (youth) and what the nonprofit does for the community!
  • Our content-first approach guided the website’s organization and helped direct community partners and donors to the information they need to make a difference. Large calls to action (CTAs) prompting users to become a mentor and/or donate can be seen in the main navigation, directing users immediately to the conversions that matter most. Beyond that, a quick scroll of the homepage communicates the “What?” and “Why?” of the organization — showing you how Momentum Bike Clubs is impacting the Upstate community.
  • Content strategists at Engenius also built Momentum’s partnership page to highlight the nonprofit’s existing community partners while encouraging local businesses to reach out and get connected to make a difference.
  • Beyond that, Momentum’s “Ways To Give” Tab directs users to ALL the ways they can get involved from volunteering professional expertise to financial gifts or donating a bike. The financial donation button takes the user to a cleanly displayed PayPal donation page that processes gifts seamlessly.
  • After the website was launched, Engenius hosted a training session for the Momentum Bike Clubs team and provided a recording of the training along with a PDF manual with further instructions. Their WordPress website is easy to update with new photos and content, and the Momentum team is able to make changes quickly and easily. Support tickets can also be easily submitted for assistance on any needs, while Engenius provides regular maintenance on the back end of the site.
