As a relatively young marketing practice, digital marketing can sometimes seem confusing and is met with a certain level of skepticism. We want you to completely understand what we do and how we can help your business’s bottom line, so check out the frequently asked questions below to learn a little more about Engenius and the services we provide.
All of our websites are built using WordPress, a Content Management System (CMS) that accounts for 18.9% of all self-hosted websites.
A Content Management System, or CMS, is a program used to create and manage digital content. We use it specifically for the purposes of web content management, meaning we use it to collaboratively work on websites and give you the ability to manage and make changes to the site (within certain limits).
No — WordPress is our platform of choice for all website builds.
It depends! If your current website is built on WordPress, we evaluate its overall performance and determine whether or not it makes sense to migrate it to Engenius’s servers. If your current website is not built on WordPress, Engenius will need to recreate it using the WordPress platform.
Engenius doesn’t typically pick up projects that have already been started because it can be difficult to pick up where another developer has left off. Working on a project that is already in the works often results in messy overlap.
We also place a great deal of emphasis on the website’s strategy and the user’s experience, so it’s imperative that we see a project through from start to finish.
If Engenius builds your site it is placed on one of our service plans, which includes access to Engenius website support.
If you want to keep your existing site (that wasn’t built by Engenius) but have it maintained by Engenius, we will need to evaluate the site’s overall health to determine whether or not it can be safely migrated to Engenius’ dedicated servers and maintained by us going forward.
Our WordPress websites have an easy-to-navigate admin area, with clearly marked sections that make it easy to implement edits and changes on the fly. We will provide a thorough training to go over everything once the site has launched, but you can see the image below for an example:
Absolutely! At the end of every website build we host a training session where we show you how to control the sections of the site that matter most to you. We’ll show you how to do as little, or as much, as you like!
Each of our websites implements simple SEO best practices — they’re optimized for mobile and written using keywords directly related to your industry, products, and/or services. However, the best SEO takes time and consistent effort; while your website will meet minimum standards, it will not be on the same level as those of our SEO clients.
Yes! Each of our websites is built with a mobile-first mentality and optimized so they are responsive on all devices.
A typical website build lasts twelve weeks. This timeline can extend or shrink, depending on availability and how quickly we get the content we need to build your site.
We gather as much content as we can without your intervention — typically from your current website (if you have one) or external sources. However, you will need to help fill in the gaps, and you can provide this information in simple bullet point form.
We require that all of our clients’ sites be hosted on Engenius’ dedicated servers on WP Engine. By hosting your website with Engenius, you’ll receive managed WordPress hosting through WP Engine, security monitoring, core WordPress and plugin updates, backups every 24-hours, theme and security updates, annual domain registration, and support ticket management. If these things are not regularly maintained, the health of your website will decline and things will break.
Can I keep my current website but start doing things like SEO, Google Ads, and Social Media Ads with Engenius?
Based on our experience, additional services like SEO or SEM are only as effective as your website. These services ultimately help people reach your site, which should help convert visitors into prospects and customers. If your site isn’t a proper reflection of your business, or if there are technical problems like poor load times or a lack of mobile optimization, it could end up driving visitors away instead of turning them into customers.
